About

Ava carries most of the same-day sick schedule at Ankeny and is usually the person who has time to talk through a vaccine question without a clock running. She trained as a pediatric nurse in a children's emergency department, which shows in how fast she sorts sick from unwell.

She runs our Saturday walk-in flu clinics in October and November.

  • Newborn and first-year care

    A weight check within 48 hours of discharge, then the whole first year mapped out: feeding, jaundice, sleep and the visits that catch problems early.

  • Well-child visits

    The full Bright Futures periodicity schedule from the first week to age 21, with the screening, plotting and anticipatory guidance each age actually needs.

  • Same-day sick visits

    Phones open at 7:30am and we hold sick slots at all three clinics every day, including Saturday mornings at Ingersoll.

  • Immunizations

    The complete ACIP childhood and adolescent schedule on site, including catch-up schedules, Vaccines for Children, and honest conversations about spacing.
