What this actually involves
We follow the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices child and adolescent schedule, and we stock every vaccine on it so nobody has to drive somewhere else. We are a Vaccines for Children provider, which means eligible children get their vaccines regardless of the family's ability to pay the administration fee.
We also talk. If you have questions about spacing, ingredients, or a specific vaccine, the conversation happens in the room with a clinician, not through a form. What we will not do is invent a schedule that leaves a baby unprotected through the months when the diseases are most dangerous.

What is included
Six things we do every time, not a list of aspirations.
Infant series
Hepatitis B at birth, then DTaP, IPV, Hib, PCV20 and rotavirus at 2, 4 and 6 months, with the rotavirus series completed by 8 months 0 days.
Toddler visits
MMR and varicella at 12 to 15 months, hepatitis A at 12 and 18 months, plus the Hib and PCV boosters and the fourth DTaP at 15 to 18 months.
School entry
DTaP, IPV, MMR and varicella boosters at 4 to 6 years, timed so the Iowa Certificate of Immunization is complete before kindergarten registration.
Adolescent visits
Tdap, meningococcal ACWY and HPV at 11 to 12 years, the MenACWY booster at 16, and MenB as a shared clinical decision from 16 to 18.
Seasonal
Influenza annually from 6 months, two doses four weeks apart the first season a child under 9 is vaccinated, plus current COVID-19 and RSV products by age and risk.
Catch-up
Children arriving from another country or another practice get a written catch-up plan using the ACIP catch-up schedule, not a restart.

We reconcile your paper record with the Iowa Immunization Registry Information System before we give anything.

Sucrose and breastfeeding for infants, buzzy device and cold spray for toddlers, and a choice of arm and a distraction plan for older children.

Two nurses for multi-vaccine visits so it takes seconds rather than minutes. Vaccine Information Statements handed over before, not after.

Fifteen minutes in the waiting room for anything new, the record updated in IRIS the same day, and a printed certificate for school.

All FAQsWe will talk about it honestly with you. Delaying leaves babies unprotected exactly when pertussis, pneumococcus and Hib are most dangerous, and it means more visits and more needles overall. If you want to discuss a specific vaccine, book a no-shot visit and we will take the time.
The vaccine works best before any exposure, and the immune response at 11 to 12 is stronger than later, which is why two doses are enough under 15 and three are needed after. It is a cancer prevention vaccine.
We can pull most Iowa records from IRIS. For records from another state or country, bring whatever you have and we will build a catch-up plan around it.
A fever in the first 24 to 48 hours is a normal immune response, not an allergy. Call us for a fever over 104 F, a fever starting more than 48 hours later, or any swelling that spreads past the joint.
